The fatal crash, in which the motorist allegedly sped through a stop sign, occurred in November 2021 in Camden County, according to Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Winslow Township Police Chief George Smith.

Azuka Ossai, of Pine Hill, NJ, was arrested on Thursday, March 10. He has been charged with causing the death of 51-year-old Sean Hughes of Harleysville, PA. Hughes was principal at Lower Merion High School in Montgomery County, PA

Ossai also was charged with assault by auto.

On Nov. 13, 2021, at approximately 7:28 a.m., police responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a Mercedes SUV and a Ford SUV at the intersection of Fleming Pike and Hays Road in Winslow Township.

Hughes, who was driving the Ford SUV, sustained serious injuries. He succumbed to those injuries that same day at approximately 10:19 a.m.

Hughes' 13-year-old son, Nolan, who was a passenger in the vehicle, also was seriously injured but survived the crash.

Hughes was taking his son, Nolan, to a soccer game, Lower Merion Superintendent Khalid N. Mumin said in a statement last year.

An investigation determined Ossai, who was operating the Mercedes SVU, went through a stop sign without stopping and crashed into the Ford SUV. Ossai was also traveling above the posted speed limit, authorities said.

Ossai was processed on the above charges and released pending court.
